The Contemporary Austin is sponsoring a screening of "Two Lane Blacktop"

The heat is officially here, so let us celebrate the one thing that unites all Americans during the punishing summer: Seeing movies with air conditioning (or outside after the sun goes down).

Here we go:

  • How about a bonafide classic? Check out the Paramount Summer Film Series!

  • In the mood for a movie and a concert at the same time? ‘Princess Bride,’ ‘Galaxy Quest’ and A Giant Dog highlight Sound and Cinema 2017 at the Long Center. Look for “Princess Bride” featuring ICING (covering Cake) on June 21, “Raising Arizona” featuring The Quaker City Night Hawks on June 28, “Galaxy Quest” featuring Special Guest (TBA) on July 19, : “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” featuring A Giant Dog on July 26. The Long Center, 701 W. Riverside Drive.

"Galaxy Quest" is still one of the best Star Trek movies.
  • Feel like being outside? Check out free Movies in the Park. “Aladdin” 9 p.m. July 6. Patterson Park, 4200 Brookview Road. “Mighty Ducks” 9 p.m. July 13. Dick Nichols District Park, 8011 Becket Road.

  • Over at Easy Tiger, enjoy the Easy Tiger Free Summer Series every Sunday from July 2 through Aug. 27. Flicks start around 9 p.m.

You will notice a theme: July 2: “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy;” July 9:” Step Brothers” (feat. an "Easy Tiger" Wine Mixer); July 16: “Elf” (feat. a Christmas in July Party); July 23: “Talladega Nights;” July 30: “Zoolander;” Aug. 6: “Night at the Roxbury” Aug. 13: “Wedding Crashers;” Aug. 20: “Old School;” Aug. 27: “Anchorman 2.” Click here for more info.

They are kind of a big deal.
