Howdy, dad. Father’s Day is coming up. What are you looking forward to? A homemade card? A chance to kick back on the couch and nap? Extra hugs from your kids? Hey, count yourself lucky for all of that.
But … and I hate to bring this up, but apparently there is another class of dads out there. Guys with higher expectations. Or at least higher hopes.
Leaning on a study that says what most dads want for Father’s Day is a family vacation, RewardExpert — a service that helps travelers maximize benefits from reward programs — has compiled a list of 2017’s Best Destinations for Dads.
“We compared 100 cities and destinations in the United States and evaluated them on 17 key “dad-factor” indicators across four dimensions: Culture, Entertainment, Outdoor Adventure, and Sports & Recreation,” RewardExpert said.
Austin only made it as far as No. 14 (one spot behind Houston), though Austin was ranked No. 7 in terms of nightlife. Dallas earned an overall ranking of No. 22 and San Antonio fell to No. 37.
But Austin did earn a “Bonus Pick” on RewardExpert’s list of top destinations “For the Party Dad.” Austin was praised for its nightlife, comedy scene, live music and its devotion to barbecue.
The top-ranked cities weren’t unexpected. In order: Los Angeles, New York, Denver, Chicago and San Francisco.
Ranking dead last was Atlantic City, N.J. If you’re curious, the last-place destination in terms of nightlife was Glacier National Park, Montana. Can’t argue with that.View full experience
