There will be pumpkin carving at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum's annual Last Straw Fest, a family-friendly event.

It’s October. Let’s carve some pumpkins, shall we? Here’s a round-up of pumpkin-carving events in the Austin area.

Jackie O’Lantern Carving at Nina Berenato JewelryThe jewelry designer is celebrating October with a “girl power themed” pumpkin carving contest on Thursday, Oct. 19. The event is free but donations will be accepted for Girls Inc. Carve your favorite female icon into a pumpkin.

Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest at Dive Shop San MarcosEntry is $5 per person with prizes for first and second place on Saturday, Oct. 21.

Faux Pumpkin Carving Party at Hops and GrainWant to carve a pumpkin before Halloween but don’t want it to rot before the holiday? Carve a faux fall-themed or Halloween-themed pumpkin at Hops and Grain on Tuesday, Oct. 24. 

5th Annual Pumpkin Carving on the Patio at Black Sheep Lodge. On Tuesday, Oct. 24, you can buy a pumpkin for $5 or BYOP (bring your own pumpkin) and Black Sheep Lodge will provide the pumpkin-carving tools, Halloween candy and even a contest for the best pumpkin with prizes for first, second and third place.

4th Annual Pumpkin Carving on the Patio at Haymaker. The partner event to Black Sheep Lodge’s pumpkin carving party, the Thursday, Oct. 25 party also features $5 pumpkins or BYOP with pumpkin carving tools, candy and a best pumpkin contest. 

Annual Pumpkin Carving on the Dock at George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural CenterEnjoy pumpkin carving, games, a costume contest, food and prizes on Saturday, Oct. 28. RSVP your free pumpkin by calling 512-974-4926.

Dottie Jordan Family Pumpkin Carving Day at Dottie Jordan Recreation Center. Only $1 per pumpkin for this Saturday, Oct. 28 event.

Last Straw Fest at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum. The family-friendly event on Sunday, Oct. 29 is free and open to the public and will offer pumpkin carving, fall-themed family activities, food trucks, music and more.
