Perhaps it comes as no surprise that the margarita-loving Austin is the first city outside of New York to get a taste of two new margaritas at Chipotle.
Starting this week, local Chipotle sites will have a couple frosty new drinks on the menu: a frozen classic margarita made with Sauza tequila and a frozen virgin strawberry margarita. (Um, no word on what Chipotle will do if you actually want a little alcohol with the strawberry.)
Chipotle has been working on the recipes for these margaritas for months — since July, in fact, when the chain’s test kitchen and restaurant in New York City, NEXT, began introducing customers to the drinks. The test kitchen is also the place where Chipotle’s all-natural queso was developed this year, and though our restaurant critic was among those who panned the queso, maybe the margaritas will have better luck.
That’s where we come in. Chipotle wants to hear from Austin consumers about they think of the new margaritas, so go in and order one with your next burrito. And also, if you are shocked to hear that the restaurant chain has had margaritas all along, let’s just say you aren’t the only one.
