The Blanton Museum of Art has netted a $30,000 grant from the Samuel H. Kress Foundation to support an “Interpretive Fellow” for one year.
The University of Texas museum is one of only seven to be awarded the Kress fellowship grants.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Frick Collection, the Cornell Fine Arts Museum at Rollins College, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Portland Art Museum also received Kress grants.
The fellowship is designed to support a student to work with museum staff to explore new kinds of careers in public programming for art museums.
The Blanton’s fellow — graduate student Natalie Zeldin who is studying both art history and music — will focus on two key initiatives that are institutional priorities: designing public programs that incorporate music and other disciplines to enhance visitors’ understanding of works of art; and collaborating with Blanton educators and curators on an upcoming reinstallation and interpretation of the museum’s permanent collection.View full experience
