The Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas at Austin has announced the appointment of the Beverly Adams as adjunct curator of Latin American Art.
Most recently, Adams was curator of the Diane and Bruce Halle Collection, a private collection of 20th- and 21st-century art from Latin America based in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Adams will begin her post at the the Blanton in January 2014 to oversee and further develop the museum’s longstanding Latin American art collection. She will serve as adjunct curator on a part-time basis for the next few years with plans to relocate her family full-time to Austin in the next few years.
Adams received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from UT Austin and from 1989 to 1995, served as assistant curator of Latin American art for the Blanton, then known as the Archer M. Huntington Art Gallery.
Curatorial leadership for the Blanton’s Latin American collection have remained open since Gabriel Perez-Barreiro left the lead post in 2008 to become director of the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros in New York. Ursula Davila-Villa, as associate curator, led the Blanton’s efforts until she departed in fall of 2012.View full experience
