Isn’t creative just another way of saying weird?

It’s hard to walk through the streets of Austin without running into some sort of mural or sculpture, and even harder to walk through them at night without hearing live music. But if you wanted further proof that we live in a very “creative” city, it was recently ranked No. 8 on Homes.com’s “Most Creative City Index” for 2017

The index looked at four factors in ranking the 25 cities as the most creative in the nation: creative jobs, creative schools, performing arts companies, and motion picture and video companies.

Creative jobs include artistic professions like photographers, dancers, designers, musicians and writers. The list designated creative schools as those designed to instruct on the arts.

Cities that beat out Austin for “more creative” spots include New York (at No. 1), San Francisco, Los Angeles and Portland. Austin was the only Texas city to make the list, but was outshone by No. 15 Nashville, which was deemed to have the best “music and arts stage.” Still no “Live Music Capitol of the World” if you ask us...

Go out there and create, Austinites!
