Thanksgiving Dinner: Last-minute options from Luby's and Threadgill's
Thursday, November 26, 2009One pathetic Thursday in my dorm room at the University of Texas, my Thanksgiving dinner consisted of pork-and-beans and half a loaf of white bread. Everything within walking distance was closed, and there was no Internet to guide me beyond the Forty Acres. Let me save you from that dismal fate. At austin360.com/forklore, I've posted more than 20 restaurants serving Thanksgiving dinner, some by reservation, some first-come, first-served. If you've waited this long, your chances for reservations might be slim. Here are two last-minute options, no reservations required.

Luby's
From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (4 p.m. at the mall locations), the cafeteria chain will serve a dinner of sliced turkey or ham, cornbread dressing, giblet gravy, two sides, a roll, and dessert for $11.99.

Threadgill's
From 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., the semi-official chuckwagon of Austin weirdness will serve Thanksgiving standards plus many of Threadgill's chicken-fried favorites and creative vegetable sides. Turkey with cornbread dressing and two vegetables is $12.95. Two locations:
