This is why I love Half Price Books.

Sometimes, collectors have to brag about a score.

This is one of those times.

It’s obnoxious and silly and I don’t do it all that often. It’s a bit like sticking your tongue out, or saying “I’m Chevy Chase and you’re not.”

And yet, you should know I scored all five volumes of this, one of the most important creations by this guy.

What are some of your best comic or book collector scores? Feel free to post them in the comments section.

OK. As you were.

What we’re reading:

Nova #2 (Marvel) - Cosmic hero bumps heads with Earth-bound plotlines. We look forward to the titular character leaving Earth soon.

Love and Rockets #17 (Fantagraphics) - The conclusion of Julio’s Day, which is going to look like poetry when it’s collected.

The Complete Chester Gould’s Dick Tracy Vol. 2 (IDW) - Covering May 1933 to January 1935, we see Gould’s narrative coming into focus. We’re somewhere between the stiff, early figures of the first volume and what will become of the most powerful pieces of cartoon expressionism on the comics page. Boy howdy, these comics were violent.
