Lake Travis will begin its quest for a Class 5A championship in Judson.

Lake Travis ISD officially released the 2012 schedule for a football team that just became the first-ever Texas team to win five state championships in a row. Lake Travis, which won its five state championships at the Class 4A level but will be a Class 5A team in the fall, will play its first six games this season against teams that reached the playoffs in 2011.

The Cavaliers will scrimmage former District 26-4A rival Vandegrift on August 24 before opening the 2012 season at Converse Judson on Aug. 31. Lake Travis will host New Braunfels Canyon on Sept. 7, play at Westwood on Sept. 14 and close out its non-district schedule with a Sept. 21 home game against A&M Consolidated.

Lake Travis will make its District 15-5A debut with a Sept. 28 home game against Austin High and the Cavaliers will travel to Burger Stadium on Oct. 5 to play Bowie. The only two non-playoff qualifiers on Lake Travis’ schedule - Akins and Anderson - are next up on the schedule as the Cavaliers will host Akins on Oct. 12 and travel to House Park on Oct. 19.
