Hays and Temple find new football coaches
Hays and Temple no longer have coaching vacancies.
The Hays Free Press is reporting that Pilot Point coach Blake Feldt has been tabbed as the Rebels’ next coach. Feldt will replace Bob Shelton, who retired in November after 46 seasons of coaching and 313 wins.
Feldt won the Class 2A, Division I championship in 2009.
Temple ISD also announced on Thursday that Mike Spradlin was the lone finalist for its open coaching position and his hire will be recommended at a school board meeting on Monday. If hired, Spradlin, who beat out Cameron Yoe’s Rick Rhoades for the gig, will replace Bryce Monsen.
Spradlin has an overall coaching record of 80-54. He is currently the head coach at Abilene Cooper and he led the Cougars to the third round of the Class 5A, Division II playoffs this past season.
There are now only two coaching vacancies in the Central Texas area. Jarrell and Leander are both looking for new football coaches.

We are asking readers to send us photos from three different categories: action shots from the court, anything pep related (like cheerleaders or mascots) and/or photos from people, signs, and fans in the stands.
Readers can upload photos through the end of the basketball season and, just for fun, we will have statesman.com readers vote on their favorite photos.
