Olga Campos departing KVUE
Olga Campos is leaving KVUE, Austin’s top-rated TV station, after 16 years on the anchor desk.
Campos announced her departure this morning on the station’s “Daybreak” program. Her final day on the job is Friday.
“Thanks everybody for your support and for inviting me into your homes,” Campos wrote on her Facebook page. “I will be sleeping in and hope to have some exciting news about my next career move very, very soon.”
The University of Texas graduate spent most of her time at KVUE helming the station’s 5 p.m. news. But after anchor Jason Hill was laid off during 2009 budget cuts, Campos was shifted to the morning and midday broadcasts.
Campos’ exit comes just a few weeks after KVUE lost another familiar face. Reporter Martin Bartlett, who covered politics, recently left to serve as spokesman for El Paso Water Utilities.

I'm hoping Quita gets moved to that morning slot since Olga has left. I liked Olga, but I think Quita would be awesome!

I will finally be able to tolerate watching the morning/noon news on KVUE along with Nightline and the evening news. I would have thought that two news professionals like Melissa and Olga would have been able to conceal their intense mutual dislike on the air. The negative attitude, lack of energy and "bed head" hair made the morning/noon programs appear second rate compared to the rest of their programing. I hope Olga leaving will give the news a new more upbeat attitude.

Interesting that Melissa Gale is not around for the *fond* farewells. Actually, unlike others, I will now look forward to tuning in at 4:30 or 5:00 am. I still want Quita Culpepper, but after reading someone's suggestion of Jim Bergamo, I could handle that, too.
In my opinion only, Olga needs to treat future colleagues with a little less arrogance and entitled attitude.

Wish Olga all the best.
Replace her with Quita Culpepper. Quita would be a fantastic morning anchor. She is one of the best on KVUE

Totally fine with me. Never liked her conceited attitude. Now all they need to do is get Melissa Gale to switch over to Fox News, and get rid of Mike Barnes, and I'll go back to watching KVUE news again.

I wish her well but like other commentors I stopped watching KVUE Daybreak out of annoyance towards her. Hopefully they can get someone like Seth Kovar or Jason Hill to bring a little sincerity to the show.

I never felt like she clicked with Melissa either or that she could ever click with anyone for that matter. I'll be glad to see her go. They should have layed her off and kept Jason Hill instead. At least with Jason you felt his warmness and comapssion when he delivered the news. He and Melissa would be awesome together...............

I wish her well but actually stopped watching KVUE in the mornings because there was no chemistry with Olga and Melissa at all. My hope would be that they would pair up Melissa and Jim Bergamo.

Wishing her the best. Never felt like she and Melissa Gale clicked . . . seemed like tension between them. Still miss Jason Hill. Hope they'll have Quita Culpepper replace her in the mornings! Love her!
