Will Forte leaving ‘SNL’
Entertainment Weekly reports that comedian Will Forte has left the building, specifically 30 Rockefeller Center from which “Saturday Night Live” is broadcast.
“After eight great seasons, Will has made the decision to move on from SNL to pursue new opportunities,” the actor’s publicist told EW.” He is eternally grateful to Lorne [Michaels] and all of the incredible people he worked with over the years.”
What’s Forte up to? This can’t be due to the not-too-successful “MacGruber” movie.
Forte’s departure will leave a definite hole in the always-uneven “SNL.” I can’t imagine any of the remaining cast members portraying the bizarre characters — Tim Calhoun, The Falconer - that were Forte’s stock in trade. My biggest fear is that Michaels will try to fill the void with more Kristin Wiig.
Watch this clip of Forte as perennial political candidate Tim Calhoun, and then leave the obligatory comment about how “SNL” hasn’t been funny in 70 years.
