NBC announces new schedule
NBC’s new slate of shows is heavy on love and crime.
The network’s 2010-2011 schedule includes a trio focused on relationships and romance: the comedies “Friends With Benefits” and “Perfect Couples,” plus the anthology “Love Bites.”
On the crime front, while the original “Law & Order” ends after this season, there’ll be a new edition of the venerable franchise, “Law & Order: Los Angeles,” on NBC’s schedule, as well as the legal dramas “Harry’s Law” and “Outlaw.” Other shows feature spies (“Undercovers”), a framed police officer turned superhero (“The Cape) and an average guy uncovering a conspiracy (“The Event”).
Familiar names on the schedule include Summer Glau (“Terminator: The Sarah Connnor Chronicles”) on “The Cape,” Oscar winner Kathy Bates on “Harry’s Law,” “Ugly Betty’s” Becki Newton on “Love Bites,” Jimmy Smits on “Outlaw” and Paul Reiser in a self-titled show.
There are notable names behind the scenes, too. Cheryl Hines of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” turns producer for the reality show “School Pride”; Conan O’Brien’s company produced “Outlaw.” David E. Kelley, whose many, many shows include “Boston Legal” and “Ally McBeal,” is behind “Harry’s Law,” and action mavens Jerry Bruckheimer (“Chase”) and J.J. Abrams (“Undercovers”) both have shows.
Some of the bigger-name new (“Harry’s Law,” “The Paul Reiser Show”) and returning shows (“Parks and Recreation”) won’t be back until season.
Here’s the full rundown.
