Monday:
‘Men of a Certain Age’ 9 p.m., TNT: Co-star Ray Romano co-wrote this episode, the last of Season 1.
‘Ultimate Cake Off’ 9 p.m., TLC: Honestly, I would settle for n average cake off.
Tuesday:
‘American Idol’ 7 p.m., Fox: Home viewer voting begins as the top 12 women warble and America gets a chance to correct two of Simon, Randy, Kara and Ellen’s mistakes.
‘Independent Lens’ 9 p.m., PBS: The African National Congress transformation into South Africa’s ruling party from its beginnings as a liberation group is explored.
Wednesday:
‘American Idol’ 7 p.m., Fox: The top 12 guys sing tonight, while Paula Abdul watches from her couch at home.
‘Modern Family’ 8 p.m., ABC: Okay, it’s a rerun. But it’s the one with the dog butler and the Internet smut, so it’s worth watching again.
’10 Grand in Your Hand’ 8 p.m., DIY: This week’s money goes down the toilet, literally, in a double bathroom renovation.
Thursday:
‘American Idol’ 7 p.m., Fox: In the season’s first results show, y’all send two guys and two gals packing. Meanies.
‘Soundstage’ 9 p.m., PBS: Willie Nelson sings and, refreshingly, nobody is sent home.
Friday:
‘Caprica’ 8 p.m., Syfy: Ratings have not been kind to this show, but any series that can stradlle plot lines as disparate as virtual reality gaming and a fishing trip is okay by me.
‘Man Caves’ 8 p.m., DIY: A comic book collector wants to move his treasures from his parents’ basement to his new man cave. Dude, you’re obviously still living in your parents’ basement, so just leave the comic books down there where you can read ‘em.
Saturday:
‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ 7 p.m., ABC: Hey, it’s a Saturday night and the Olympics are on. What did you expect?
Sunday:
‘Undercover Boss’ 8 p.m., ABC: The owner of White Castle visits his gleaming, white burger joints incognito. If he’s anything like me, it’s 2 a.m. and the bars have just closed.
