This week’s TV picks

Monday:
‘Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show’ 7 p.m., USA, CNBC: Woof! Set your DVR (and feel free to paws) as the 134th annual outing (but certainly not the 134the annual televised outing!) kicks off from Madison Square Garden.

‘NFL Full Contact’ 9 p.m., TruTV: The premiere of this behind-the-scenes series looks at preparations for the opening of Cowboy’s Stadium in Arlington.

Tuesday:
‘American Idol’ 7 p.m., Fox: The Hollywood rounds continue as contestants vie for a spot in the top 24.

‘Lost’ 8 p.m., ABC: It’s a Locke-centric episode, so it should be more interesting than last week’s Kate-themed snooze-fest.

‘Wild Recon’ 8 p.m., Animal Planet: A bull shark? A flying fox bat? Are we sure this isn’t a rerun of ‘The Island of Doctor Moreau’?

‘Independent Lens’ 9 p.m., PBS: Two pieces look at the aftermath of Hurrican Katrina in New Orleans. One focuses on a house, the other on pets and owners who are trying to find them.

Wednesday:
‘American Idol’ 8 p.m., Fox: The top 24 finalists are revealed, Simon says something nasty, Randy calls somebody ‘dawg’ and Ellen cracks a few jokes.

‘Faces of America with Henry Louis Gates, Jr.’ 7 p.m., PBS: One of the faces belongs to Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert, so I’ll be watching.

Thursday:
‘Soundstage’ 9 p.m., PBS: Lynyrd Skynyrd performs. What’s the over/under on somebody shouting out ‘Freebird?’

‘Ace of Cakes’ 9 p.m., Food: Oprah wants a cake, and Oprah gets what Oprah wants.

Friday:
‘The Haunted’ 9 p.m., Animal Planet: Former guests haunt a hotel room. Wow, talk about late check out! In other news, counter programming really takes a dive during the Olympics.

Saturday:
‘Precious: The Story Behind the Movie’ 7 p.m., TVGN: A behind-the-scenes look features interviews with cast members, exclusive clips and set highlights from the popular movie.

Sunday:
‘Prehistoric’ 7 p.m., Discovery: A massive armadillo is one of the creatures appearing in this look at ancient Dallas.

‘Craziest Canine Castles’ 7 p.m., FLN: How’s your Sunday been? Pretty good? Are you feeling happy? Content? That’s because you haven’t yet seen these doghouses with private entrances and televisions. Yep, these dogs live better than you. Happy Sunday!
