Local TV faces leave the airwaves
KVUE’s Clara Tuma and KXAN’s Jenny Hoff are signing off. Tuma’s last day is Feb. 12, while Hoff will remain in her position for a through April.
Tuma, a reporter and sometimes anchor at KVUE for almost 9 years, is taking a senior communications specialist position with the Lower Colorado River Authority. “Last summer I started thinking that maybe the heat and I were never going to get along,” said Tuma, who was not actively seeking a career change. “I am a Texan; I know this heat. But last summer was just over the top for me.”
Political reporter and weekend anchor Hoff, a St. Louis native who came to KXAN 5 years ago, is heading to Germany as recipient of a Robert Bosch Fellowship. The one-year stint will allow Hoff to work with and observe the German government’s policy making and then file enterprise and other stories for English-speaking Deutsche Welle Television. “I think you can create opportunities, not just wait for them to come find you,” Hoff said.
Look for more comments from Tuma and Hoff in an expanded TV Blog post soon. In the mean time, more information about the duo’s backgrounds can be found over at former local TV newser Jim McNabb’s blog, News McNabb.
