Troy Kimmel returning to Austin’s airwaves
Troy Kimmel is heading back to KEYE — albeit for a limited run.
Kimmel, who served as the CBS station’s chief meteorologist from 2000 to 2003, will spend the summer filling in on weekend newscasts while management attempts to find a replacement for Megan Campbell.
One of the city’s best-known weathercasters, Kimmel has also spent time working at KTBC and KVUE. Currently chief meteorologist for Clear Channel’s Austin radio stations and a senior lecturer at UT, he broke the news in a Facebook post Wednesday:
“Ok.. it’s official.. I’m headed back to KEYE TV (CBS) here in Austin to freelance and help out in the weather department with Susan Vessell. Just a summer commitment.. but should be fun!!”
Kimmel starts this weekend, and can be spotted on KEYE’s weekend newscasts, which air Saturday at 6 and 10 p.m. and Sunday at 5:30 and 10 p.m.

I'm a guy and I have a pulse and I miss Megan Campbell. There, I said it. Used to be able to see her every day until they relegated her to the weekends. Then one day, this old dude shows up... and stays. I was really hoping she was just on vacation.
As for Susan Vessell, I really don't know how she got the top spot. Megan and the Brit (or is it Aussie?) guy seemed to have more potential. Furthermore, what's up with the Stepford smile, tan parlor skin and hair highlights??? Vessell seems to be all glammed-up now, as compared to when she first started out.

Glad to see you back Troy, finally someone who gives a decent presentation onthe weather forecasts, hopefully you can stay for awhile. I could not stand Megan Campbell, she could barely talk while showing all those teeth and that Susan Vessal tries to be soooooooo cute, time to get rid of her too.

Susan's forecasts seem as though they may end in a drug induced puppet show. Welcome back Troy. I listen on the radio when I can and would prefer you on the television.

I am so glad Megan Campbell is leaving! What a dip. I remember her giving a number of summertime forecasts to the effect of: "beautiful sunshine; high temperature 97". Have some sympathy, have some understanding of being outside in extreme heat, have a clue...

I think KEYE ought to think long and hard about offering the full-time job to Kimmel and move Vessell to part-time/weekends or get rid of her all together.
I cannot stand her which is sad because I love the news anchors on KEYE. She can be snippy at times and has no sense of style. True, weatherpeople don't need to be dressed to the nines but could we at least see her in something that matches and fits? Her color coordination is off and if she's gained a few pounds, so what? - just buy some new clothes in a bigger size that MATCH! How hard is it to buy a bigger sized black jacket and brown jacket and then different coordinating blouses and one or two pants or skirts that match?
