The entry titled "Where did you buy your Stones ticket?."
We’ve been noticing tickets for Sunday’s Rolling Stones show at Zilker Park surfacing on Craigslist, Ebay and in our own classifieds even though they are still available from Ticketmaster. We’re curious about where our readers have been buying tickets. Did you stand in line on the first day the tickets went on sale, or did you find a hot deal on the internet this week? And how much did you pay?
I have seen the Stones four times and this was one of the best if not the best of the four shows! Fantastic! They should have rented the small lawn chairs. If they do not cause a problem at ACL, I don’t see why they wouldn’t work here. Just keep them a distance from the stage. I always stand anyway during shows. The park-n-ride sucked! the bus dropped everyone off two miles from the stage! IT was a damn journey just to get there. They should have dropped off people at the gate like at ACL.
ticketmaster $240.00 for 2. I know some got a better deal, it don’t matter, I was there and I can’t believe all the freakin’ whiners in my hometown! Who sits at a rock concerts, anyway? and I’ll bet everyone in that neighborhood that had something to whine about are transplants (not an austinite). austin is still austin, the names (people) have changed to fit the fashion..
All I can say is that they managed to have bleachers full of people who paid $380.oo per ticket and most of them were not happy about the access, location and all the equpment blocking views from these over priced seats. Great show, but they really screwed the people who paid for reserved seats, but I guess that’s what big corporate bands / sponsors / promoters do.
$000 -Got VIP tickets from Radio Shack. Met the Stones in person and had my picture taken with them prior to the show. I even got to tell Mick-there is a puertorrican girl who is dying to meet you (I’m from Puerto Rico). He responded “good one good one” Thank you Radio Shack!!!! Great experience superb concert.
Got an online offer of 2 tickets and 2 t-shirts from KGSR raido station for $199 through a link to Ticketmaster using ‘LIPS’ as a password. DIDN’T WORK! DIDN’T GO. Thanks a lot KGSR remember me next time. Hell if I’m not going to be able to use the offer why not give it to me free?
$120 for the $350 grandstand seats, right after they gave the 14 minute warning. Paid $9(5 quid) in 1982 to see them in London with 400 others. Shook their hands, got guitar picks and they played whatever we yelled out, some songs twice. While not as intimate, I was surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did. And in 10 years, the price and opportunity will seem like a deal.
At the last minute we purchased our tickets from Craig’s list for $35.00 each. I was thrilled to be there with all the other 42,000
supporters and fans. Well worth the investment!
Paid Full price on Ticket master. Then the local radio stations had them 1/2 price. Been ripped off considering the person purchasing today has the same chance of stand next to me as those who purchased them when they went on sale.
Next Zilker park event I will NOT be there!!! Rather travel to Dallas, houston, or San antonio where they HAVE convient parking!!!!!
We paid full price of $95.00 plus an ungodly amount of fees and we don’t even get a frees stinken t-shirt. That sucks. All full price paid tickets should be taken to the front of the crowd and given a shirt.
After reading a few comments, I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I am 61 & I’ve never been to a R&R concert. My son bought 2 tickets for me and a friend. I am so excited. I don’t care if I have to sit on the ground or what I can & cannot take. I don’t care about the price of food. I just want to see and hear The Stones. J Blair
In From Lubbock,Tx.2nd Time seeing them,It’ will be a hugh Party. Stop Nagging about chairs, This is a Rock Concert not a Orchestra Black Tie affair, I’ve been to so many Concerts since I was 10 yrs most have been to seating arenas and not ever once have I sat at a concert venue… See all you Stoners there
I am ashamed of Austin. The “Stones” finally come and it is NOT a sellout. The obvious reason: the event is in a field, not a stadium or a proper venue. On top of that, folding chairs are disallowed. I am embarrised.

We are from Dallas. This is my 3rd Stones concert and my wife’s first. This is our 19th anniversary trip. I paid $1,200 for stage seats. Hope they are good.
My husband surprised me and got 2 tickets in the second row. The face value was $350.00 plus 28.50 service charge. He payed $400.00 for both tickets on e-bay.I am so hyped!!! Hope ya’ll has a great, safe time.
Well, almost there! Stones in Austin… yeehaw! This will be my 7th Stones show over past 30 years. Am so very excited. Finally, will get some Satisfaction!
A seat in a stadium would be a lot more comfortable for $113, but then the promotors wouldn’t make as much money, which is always more important than the fans having a good time….just ask Jerry Jones.
Regarding motorcycle or scooter parking - here’s what I was told in an email:
“motorized scooters and motorcycles will be treated as a vehicle and will not be allowed at the bike racks. Sorry for the disappointment. Check out the website at http://zilkerrocks.com/parking.asp for all the information on parking and the shuttle. Hope that helps!”
i love the rolling stones. i love zilker park. why all the mess???? ticketbastar*& greedy. city greedy. could have been and will be great for a chosen few. all that money and only limited seating? i wanted to bring my mom—she can rock still but why with 50,000 + pushing forward. oh well—i’ve seen the rolling stones 6X i won’t in my own town—sold my tickets (not for profit)
The Stones have been around for more than 40 yrs- so don’t you think many going to see them will also be more than 40. Meaning many of us need back support-via a chair or something! I saw the Stones in Dallas in the 90’s and now I am taking my teenagers to enjoy this awesome group! Anyone going to see there show will never forget it!! It will be great! Just next time give us some back support!
I got 2 tickets for my 50th birthday! My man paid $230 for 2 tickets, and I am sooo excited! WooHoo! Never seen the Stones and always wanted to. Hope I can make it physically, with out a chair. See you there!
Paid $95, total $113 at HEB. Wish I had known before the info. was released just yesterday though, that I wouldn’t be able to bring a chair. My back doesn’t do well with the ground and nothing to lean against. My old feet can’t handle standing for hours either. I would not have bought a ticket if I knew this issue about no lawn chairs in advance.
austin’s jewel is now a $ making large concert venue, or parking lot for cars, portable sewage, trash which $150,000(right maybe $10,000) is used to get ready for the next big event that promoters can make big$ using a public facility, why the park suffers. at least the neighborhood kept it from becoming a paved parking lot for now, but with another rain out, I bet the city planners try that one again and why they are at it, how about a roof. maybe that is what austin deserves, a paved over park
Does it bother anybody else that a few influential neighborhood groups hold such power that they can virtually dictate what can and cannot occur in Zilker Park? I thought the park was owned by the City, and therefore the City should decide what’s in the best interest of ALL the City’s residents, not just a few “aging hippies” that act like a-holes and/or gods just because they live in a bordering neighborhood.
$120 or so thru ticketmaster. Better than the $1200 I spent for me & gal to go to San Jose in 98 for 7th row, and Mick got sick. Seen Stones 10 times. Halloween show @ Oakland in 94 was awesome. So was Halloween in 81 w/ ZZTOP, Fabulous TBirds in Dallas. This time, we’re @ home

I wouldn’t buy a Rolling Stones CD for $1.00 in a bargain bin.
I wouldn’t go across the street to hear them either. Wouldn’t have to. I could stand there and listen to them for free because they are THAT loud!
I prefer to spend my money to feed my family! The price of two Stones tickets will feed us for a couple of months.
