Convenience store as pop-up gallery
An abandoned downmarket convenience stores morphs into a pop-up gallery this weekend when Austin artist Adreon Henry launches his project, “E-Z Egos & Effigies.”

Henry throws together his vinyl screen-print paintings, QR codes, Facebook personas and a carefully crafted ersatz shopping experience intended to engage everyone in an exploration of the shifting role of interpersonal relationships as technology embeds in our existence.
Henry’s store displays his sketch-art portrait pieces embedded with QR codes. People are encouraged to use their smart phones to scan the QR codes which are then linked to the portrait’s Facebook page that has been embellished with a unique persona and identity.
“E-Z Egos & Effigies”
Super-K G-Store, 6700 Guadalupe St.
Opening 6 to 11 p.m. May 14
