In ‘Corridor,’ the art messes with you
Let’s face it, the Butridge Gallery at the Doughtery Arts Center is really nothing but the lobby and hallway of the busy municipally-run community arts facility.
Many people passing through hardly give the art on exhibit there a second glance, and who can blame them? The lighting’s bad, the space is awkward, the pedestrian traffic is distracting.

And so in a playful gesture, a bevy of Austin artists — Debra Broz, Suzanne Koett, Heidi Landau, Shea Little, Jamie Panzer, Jana Swec, Joe Swec and Jon Windham — have interfered with the practical function of the lobby/gallery by crafting ambiguous organic forms out of recycled paper that are intended to simultaneously redefine, impose detours and create alternative passage into and through the gallery.
