An alternative to the white cube gallery? A raquetball court!
Artists have always had a love-hate relationship with the quintessential white cube gallery — a space devoid of detail, and context, that’s intended to offer a rarefied art-viewing experience.

Artist TJ Hunt offers her work-around to the white cube with “Re:bound.” The exhibit will take place tonight in a racquetball court in UT’s Recreational Sports Center.
“The location was chosen for its simultaneous removal from conventional artistic context and undeniable formal similarity to the institutional white cube,” Hunt says. “As an homage to its site, the exhibition will present a wide range of sports-inspired works, many of which were created specifically for the exhibition.”
“Re:bound” features work by Stephanie Bonham, Ben Brandt, Vanessa Crook, Scott Eastwood, TJ Hunt, Olivia Moore, Daniel Payavis, Carlos Rosales-Silva, Tim Schmidt, Jade Walker, Jeff Williams and Richard Yanas.
“Re:bound”
6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 30
