Summer from Hell: The Bright Side
Surviving the record drought and heat in Austin? Your perennially upbeat columnist finds the bright side.
° No need to mow the lawn. No lawn left.° You’ve got a sun tan. I’ve got a sun tan. We’ve all got sun tans.
° The sidewalks are less crowded. Who walks in this heat? (Me, but not as much.)
° No mosquitos. The Mexican freetail bats ate the few stragglers.
° Faint humidity. So little moisture to suck up into the air.
° A dip in an unheated hot tub feels like diving into Barton Springs.
° Lake envy evaporates with the lakes.
° Doctors endorse Amy’s Ice Cream.
° The new cool: 110° in the shade.
° There’s alway an open spot on your favorite patio.
