Austin Under 40 Awards at AT&T Center
No need to search for tomorrow’s leaders. They were all at the Austin Under 40 Awards. Bright, blithe, bewitching, the winners, nominees and friends all seem to be going places — fast.
Stuart Hiserodt and Joah Spearman
They gathered in the courtyard of the AT&T Center at dusk on Saturday, then headed up the stairs to the lobby for the silent auction, dinner and awards ceremony. Many are already featured on the Out & About 500 list of the city’s most social citizens, others will likely join soon.
Katie Kasparzak and Sarah Zomper
Top honors went to Matthew Curtis, communications director at the Austin mayor’s office, named AU40 Austinite of the year and winner in the category of Government/Public Affairs. I’ll admit that Matt is pretty darn near everywhere in town, a public servant in the Kennedy mode.
Frank and Tina Fernandez
Other honorees: Karen LaShelle, executive director and artistic director of Theatre Action Project; Matt Chasen, CEO & founder of uShip; Frank Fernandez, executive director of Green Doors; Jason Qunell, senior vice president of commercial real estate lending at Capital One Bank; and Amy Meachum, 201 District Court Judge, Travis County.
Katie Little and Ryan Theuer
In other categories: Tracey Haas, family physician, Austin Regional Clinic and co-founder/Co-CEO of DocBookMD; Alex Charfen, CEO of Relativity Press; Alan Blake, CEO of Yorktown Technologies, L.P; and Benjamin De Leon, shareholder and vice president of De Leon & Washburn, P.C.
Don’t be surprised if some of the winners are profiled soon in Out & About.
