Ginny’s Little Longhorn Saloon lands on ‘Worst Bar’ list
One of Austin’s revered dives has been named, tongue in cheek, one of Worst Bars in America by Comedy.com. Ginny’s Little Longhorn Saloon placed No. 18 out of 20 “places to throw up in” primarily because of its famed Chicken (Expletive) Bingo. “Now that’s our kind of gambling!” say the Comedy.com writers. The place of pride went to Newport Bar & Laundry in Chicago, Ill.: “The servers are rude as hell, and the prices aren’t that cheap, but you can do laundry there! They actually have washers and dryers! Why didn’t anyone think of that sooner?”
At least Comedy.com admits to its subjectivity: “to some people this list will read as the Worst Bars In America, to others it may read as the Best Dive Bars In America, and yet to others it may read as We Don’t Give A Damn As Long As They Sell Booze.”

Precisely harruda... they were polite. Had Barwash an attitude, today they'd be #1 or something like that... it's all shock... all shock. Jeff, Dud's n'Sud's was a good idea (at least for students)... nuthin' like getting a buzz whilst doin' yur laundry...

No way, Ginny's is great. Now in my opinion, G&S Lounge is by far the worst bar in Austin. What a dump! and the owner (Jimmy) is a total (expetive)! If you happen to patronize this disgusting (expletive) of a bar, please punch him in the face for me. Thanks!

Speaking of Bar of Soap, I watched the Texas/OU game in 2002 across the street from the fairgrounds at that bar. That placed could have used more than a bar of soap!!!

I think I still have a sign from Duds & Suds on Oltorf from the 80s.

In the 80's there was a laundrymat/bar called the Fun-O-Mat in my college town of Ruston, LA. Brilliant concept in my opinion.
Robert Schneider and Bill Doss of Apples in Stereo and Olivia Tremor Control fame played one of their first gigs on the stage at the Fun-O-Mat. Fun times indeed.

Bar of Soap(on the eastern end of Deep Ellum) in Dallas has been around for twenty or so years...they have washers and dryers in a bar setting.

having been to three of the 20 bars on that list, and being at ginny's almost more often than their refrigerator, I'd say there was a typo. those are some of the best bars in the usa.

FYI: In the 80's there use to be a place called the Barwash on north Lamar where they had beer, food and washers and dryers. The bust in the 80's put them out of business. It was a great place with good polite service.
