Your A-List: Best Neighborhood
Do Austinites adore their neighborhoods, or what? More than 30 residential districts received significant endorsements in this week’s A-List contest. They included fuzzy geographical designations like Far South Austin and high-dollar, platinum-plated zones such as Pemberton Heights and Tarrytown.
Victorian-era Hyde Park — conceptually, a flexible area north of the UT campus — snapped up 3 percent of the tally, trailed by northwestern Windsor Park, western Tarrytown and southern Travis Heights, all nearly 2 percent.
Taking less than 2 percent were Far South Austin, Circle C, Northwest Hills, South Congress, Zilker, Clarksville, Cedar Park, North Shoal Creek, Avery Ranch, Bouldin Creek, Pemberton Hights, East Cesar Chavez, Cherrywood, Wells Branch, Barton Creek, Cat Hollow, Sun City, Bryker Woods, French Place, Far West, Turtle Creek Estates, Belterra, West Campus and Judges’ Hill.

Hey Michael, please correct your statement that Windsor park is northwest. It's not...it is very much in the northeast! I was also very upset to see that University Hills wasn't even worthy of a mention...especially since the neighborhood is much older than many of the others that did get a mention.

Guys, guys, guys: During the VOTING we publish last year's winners, as a reference. Some people jump to the conclusion that's the final CURRENT tally, which comes out on the Thursday after the voting began. Patience. We don't just through last's year's up there. Michael

I moved to Crestview 5 years ago, and even though I'm just a lowly tenant, I LOVE this neighborhood. Crestview is truly friendly, wide open, joyously colorful and palpably plesant; the best of Austin is reflected here. Our amazing Wall of Welcome beautifully illustrates a very well-loved, well-LIVED neighborhood.

This happens almost every week: You were probably looking at last year's winners and images, which are posted on the voting page. Thus the Crestview wall, etc.
