I’ll be in Marfa, but note these Austin NYE party options…
For the first few months of 2008, all I heard was: “You should have spent New Year’s Eve in Marfa.” There, determined vanguards of Austinites threw immortal parties in the chill desert air.
In between, we’ll walk, hike, read and soak up the desert minimalism. Meanwhile, here are some party options selected from today’s 360 Bets.
New Year’s Eve at Spiderhouse. 7 p.m. to midnight Wednesday . Happy Hour from 7 to 9 p.m., followed with live music and DJs. Ring in the new year with $10 bottles of champagne all night. $10 admission. Spiderhouse Cafe, 2908 Fruth St. 480-9562.
New Year’s Eve at Flying Saucer. Wednesday . Party favors and free champagne toast at midnight. Free admission. Flying Saucer Draught Emporium, 815 W. 47th Street. 454-8200.
Pangaea Party. 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday . Music by Don P, and champagne toast at midnight. Pangaea, 409 Colorado St. 472-8882.
Prince Nite 2. 9 p.m. Wednesday . Celebrate the new year with the music of Prince (not performed by Prince) and live performance by local funk band Foot Patrol. Hosted by KUT 90.5’s DJ Rick McNulty. The Scoot Inn, 1308 E. Fourth St. $15 advance, $20 at the door. 480-0799.
