Holiday Party at Stuart Moulton/Brian Jenson residence
If you’ve encountered Austin Cabaret Theatre’s Stuart Moulton and Brian Jenson, you already know about their holiday open house. The couple — but especially Moulton — decorate their North Austin house to the teeth with holiday gear. Actually, some rooms are impassable, so great are the silvery seasonal decorations.

They also put out a bountiful spread. (Don’t you hate parties with too little to eat, too much to drink?) Which is not to say, these hosts stint on the beverages. At the door, before you enter, are “with” and “without” bottles, filled with champagne and sparking water. Out on the patio of the acre-sized property was a cooler of fruit-sweetened cosmos.

Of course there was theater chat, but I most enjoyed an hour with a trio of new acquaintances: Riley Britton, Trenton Wayne Engledow and Paul Louis Craig. We talked about origins (East Texas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin); marital relations (all of us are partnered up); the new train station in the North Lamar neighborhood; sports, arts and socializing.
