Michael’s Dec. 7, 2008 Social Schedule
One huge fundraising event dominates this evening: Dancing with the Stars-Austin.
5:30 p.m. Dancing with the Stars-Austin for the Center for Child Protection, with celebrity dancers Chief Art Acevedo (Austin Police Department); Dr. Robert Clement (MD, APSI Skin Care Clinic); Larry Connelly (arts leader and philanthropist); Meghan Danahey (KVUE-TV broadcast meteorologist); Wally DeRoeck (entrepreneur and community philanthropist); Ronda Gray (children’s advocate and founder of Camp on the Move); Maria Groten (community volunteer); Karen Hawkins (community volunteer and philanthropist); Mitch Jacobson (former Dell executive and arts leader); Amy Simmons (founder and owner of Amy’s Ice Cream); Bill and Venus Strawn (entrepreneur and community volunteer); Roxanne Wilson (survivor of Donald Trump’s hit reality show, “The Apprentice”), all at the Hilton Austin.
Now, I’d also love to visit Spiderwood Studios in Uhland for the nearly complete movie-making center’s Christmas party, but the VIP gathering for DWTSA starts at 5:30 p.m. and the actual dancing waits until 9 p.m. — so you see …
Also, earlier in the day, Tapestry Studios will hold an open house to benefit charities such as LifeWorks, but I will be typing away on long-promised, long-delayed articles.
