Your A-List, Best Karaoke
The Asian-inspired custom of singing popular songs to recorded instrumental tracks has not abated in this city. It’s everywhere. Still. And the rave fave spot for karaoke is Common Interest, by a yodeling 43 percent of the A-List vote.
DK Sushi came in a distant second with 17 percent, while Austin Karaoke nabbed third with 11 percent. The other hot spots — which must include generous portions of alcohol I presume — are La Palapa (7 percent), the Water Tank (7 percent), Baby A’s (5 percent), Beerland (5 percent), new Seoul Karaoke Studio (3 percent), Rain (3 percent) and Karaoke Apocalypse (1 percent).
Why does the one with the best name get the least votes?

If you follow the current A-list winner links, it actually takes you to this story about last year's winner....2009's winner for best karaoke is hard to find through the links, but it is indeed BEERLAND. Probably, that will get fixed soon.

When the polls closed, Beerland had over 1000 votes and Common Interest had 800 something. What happened there?

Well Michael, can't wait til I hear your karaoke rendition of Patsy Cline's "I'm Sorry" at Beerland's Karaoke on Monday! Seems you miscounted and declared the wrong winner! Beerland clearly had the lead with over 45% of the votes! How the hell did Common Interest suddenly win (and Beerland dropped to 5 PER CENT? WTF? The photo shows the winner...just NOT the words!) I only assume Common Interest must have bribe you with a bar tab! Ha! Get your vocal chords warmed up, my friend! We expect your appearance at Beerland soon! (And please have the votes recounted so we can all go back to singing poorly in public again!) Thanks!

How did Beerland go from First to only having 5%??? Their Karaoke is AMAZING!!!
