Dennis Quaid moving to Austin

image_1587711.jpg
Dennis Quaid confirms that he plans to raise his twins in Austin, hometown to his wife, Kimberly Buffington. The star, who testified before U.S. Congress recently on medical safety after his infants were given overdoses of Heparin in the hospital, wants his children to grow up in a less stressful environment than Los Angeles.

“The train is going down the tracks. We have a lot of family there and we have a really nice plot of land,” he told Extra television magazine at the Maui Film Festival. “We have 30 or 40 friends and family members within two miles of us. It’s kind of a no-brainer.” Quaid purchased the land on Lake Austin after meeting and marrying Buffington, a real estate agent, three years.

“I’ve always loved Austin,” Quaid told us in 2005. “It has a sense of community you can’t get anywhere else.”

A sidebar on media ignorance of Texas geography: Many online news sources report the family is moving to Quaid’s native Houston, assuming that’s what he meant when he said he was going back to Texas.

Can Quaid buy Armstrong's house, and then have the latter move to LA?

Welcome home Dennis and Kimberly. I am from Dennis' native Houston and I am very proud of him! As I am Patrick Swayze, ZZ Top, etc.

I can't imagine true Texans acting like he's going to bring paps with him and his family. The man is first and foremost a father and a husband! And I can say that and I've never even met him. SO CHILL OUT!

Boy, it doesn't take much to flush out the haters. Blaming a fairly innocuous movie actor like Dennis for the Fall of Austin is stretching it, don't you think?

just don't drag your big-time snooty friends with you or the obvious decadent lifestyle either...the lake house is already telling....yeah, that's real Austin-ish

Dennis has been saying he was moving to Austin for years. Finally gonna happen because he found someone from here who would marry him. He & Meg Ryan at one time talked about moving to Austin and raising their son Jack here too. (I worked with them when they filmed Flesh & Bone in TX & also on Meg's Courage under Fire) He & Jack have always been so close, but I guess it's going to be easier for Dennis to leave him behind in L.A. than I thought it would be for him.
