Your A-List: Best Pet Store
We love our two cats, Rajah and Bagheera, and our two dogs, Nick and Nora, almost to distraction. So we’ve spent a little time and a lot of moolah in pet stores.
Your overwhelming favorite in the A-List poll among pet stores was Bark ‘n Purr, ruffing up a full 66 percent of the vote. The Burnet Road veteran clearly has nurtured some happy and extremely loyal customers of various species.
Coming in No. 2 with a respectable 10 percent was the exotic specialists at Herpeton, also on Burnet Road. Close behind was its doppleganger, Zookeeper Exotic Pets, again on Burnet Road. (I was unaware of the roadway’s zoological cornucopia until now.)
Amazonia took 5 percent, Aquatek 4 percent, River City Aquatics 3 percent and Partners just under 3 percent.
Write-ins: Bark N Bubbles, Blue Dog Rescue, Gallery of Pets, Just for Pets, K9Lives, Lofty Dog, Petco, PetSmart, Rivers & Reefs Pet Center and Tomlinson’s

Your A-List: Best Theater Company
It’s apt that your preferred theater company in the Your A-List competition recently launched a spanking new sold-out hit, and has since returned to the Paramount Theatre with an oldie but goodie. Greater Tuna took the title with 16 percent of the vote, after premiering the fourth in the series of comedies about small-town Texas, “Tuna Goes to Vegas.” Currently, “A Tuna Christmas,” which many observers feel is the best in the quartet, is playing to still-fresh laughter nightly.
The Hideout, less a theater company than a venue with lots of great comic troupes inside, came in second with almost 13 percent of the vote. ColdTowne, the New Orleans transplant with its own improv palace on Airport Boulevard, was right behind.
Austin Lyric Opera, which, after all, is as much theater as music, took third place with 12 percent of the vote, and Salvage Vanguard, which has matured into a theatrical institution after its rough, anti-theatrical beginnings, won 11 percent.
Naughty Austin, which serves the gay and gay-friendly communities with snappy and often risque material, grabbed 9 percent, while the globe-trotting Rude Mechanicals followed with 8 percent. The Vortex, the original Austin warehouse troupe, attracted just under 8 percent, and one of its more recent offspring, Yellow Tape Construction, pulled in 4 percent.
Coming in under 3 percent: City Theater, A Chick and A Dude, Dirigo Group, Shrewd Productions and Refraction Arts.
Write-ins: Esther’s Follies, Il Teatro Nostro, Latino Comedy Project, Physical Plant and Zach Scott.

Justin Timberlake, Vanessa Hudgens headed to Austin
You read it in Out & About first: Justin Timberlake is bringing his SexyBack to Austin, booked to shoot a movie here later in January. Sources tell us he’ll stay at the Four Seasons and tool around in an SUV, but which movie will he grace?
Most likely suspect: “40 Love,” the Weezie Melancon-directed tennis comedy, which could be lifted by a Timberlake cameo. Or perhaps it’s Terrence Malick’s assuredly more serious — and secretive — “Tree of Life,” also to star Sean Penn and Heath Ledger, and slated for Central Texas production soon.
Yet another possibility: The untitled Elton John biopic that Timberlake is listed to headline. Sir Elton is big on Austin, returning frequently. Would make some sense.
One more option: “Will,” which shoots here soon and is about a battle of the bands at a high school. Vanessa Hudgens (“High School Musical”) and Liam Aiken (“Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events”) star. Casting director Beth Sepko will audition high-school-age bands Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 501 Studios, Fifth and Brushy streets. Call (512) 472-5385 ext. 1 to make an audition appointment.
