Bank repossesses Austin Music Hall
The Austin Music Hall has been repossessed by its lender, Omnibank.
The live music venue at 208 Nueces St. in downtown Austin will continue to operate, Omnibank executive vice president Curtis Wren told the American-Statesman Friday afternoon.
“Obviously it’s an important music venue, and we are trying to get our arms around all of its various operations,” Wren said. “We’re very fortunate to have a lot of contacts who are very familiar with it.”
Upcoming performances include Tenacious D on July 19 and Amon Tobin on Sept. 25. Tickets for both shows are still available online.

Trophy's set to close, making way for new bar
Trophy’s, a mainstay on South Congress Avenue, will soon close its doors, making way for a new bar that could open in as soon as two to three months.

C-Boy’s, the tentative name for the soon-to-open venue, will focus on funk, soul and R&B music, according to Continental Club owner Steve Wertheimer, a partner in the project. Food service is planned, bathrooms will be upgraded, and a new patio area will be created behind the building.
“It’s sitting on a nice lot,” he said. “We’re going to clean the place up a bit. It’s going to go through a transformation.”
The kitchen will offer culinary creations from restaurateur Larry McGuire, the man behind several local eateries, including Perla’s, according to Wertheimer.
Music isn’t planned every night at C-Boy’s, Wertheimer told the American-Statesman, and all performances will take place indoors. There will be no concerts on the patio.
Trophy’s will close in the next week or two, he said, and construction crews will get to work as soon as city permits are obtained.
“We’re going to be in there blowing and going just as soon as we can,” Wertheimer said.
There’s a chance Trophy’s, which is under different ownership, could reopen elsewhere, Wertheimer said, where it would continue to offer performances by garage and rock-and-roll bands.

New details on E. Riverside Beauty Bar location
Beauty Bar is heading east.
The popular downtown music venue will soon debut a second location at 2015 E. Riverside Drive.
The Beauty Ballroom will open Dec. 31 with a show by Grupo Fantasma. Its focus, owners say, will be on attracting national and international touring acts.
The dance floor at the new club can accommodate 500 people, and a balcony has room for 200 more.
“We are really excited about the new venue on Riverside,” said Beauty Bar partner Bart Butler. “From the layout of the building to the live production specs to the signature paint job and decor, we are really putting a lot of thought into this venture and we hope to bring Austin something a little different from the standard music venue experience.”
Beauty Ballroom is located just a few doors down from Emo’s, which relocated from Red River Street this summer. Beauty Bar founder Paul Devitt said Emo’s owner Frank Hendrix was instrumental in his club’s decision to open in East Austin.
“Frank approached me this summer about his plans to lease a boarded-up nightclub near the new Emo’s,” Devitt said. “A month later he asked me if I’d be interested in partnering up. We became friends when I opened on Seventh Street and Frank has always liked the brand.”
Beauty Bar, 617 E. Seventh St., joined Austin’s nightlife scene five years ago.

New owner of La Zona Rosa property: No immediate changes planned
Nate Paul, CEO of Austin-based World Class Capital Group, and Tim O’Connor, owner of La Zona Rosa, provided the American-Statesman with a joint statement this afternoon addressing the live music venue’s future.
Paul says he is exploring options for the building, but no immediate changes are planned.
Marketing materials popped up on various real estate websites earlier this week, indicating the building was being offered to prospective tenants as “prime retail space.”
The statement:
“La Zona Rosa has been providing music to the Austin community for over 30 years and will continue to do so. World Class Capital Group has recently purchased the property located on 4th street in downtown Austin. Nate Paul and Tim O’Connor are working closely to create a new vision for La Zona Rosa.”
We are seeking more information and will update this post as details become available.
Earlier:
Are La Zona Rosa’s days numbered?
That’s the question Austin music lovers are asking today on Facebook and Twitter after the building the venue occupies at 612 W. Fourth St. popped up on local real estate websites.
Marketing materials prepared by the Retail Solutions firm pitch the site as a “prime retail location.”
An image included in the listing features a structure that looks much, much different than the current one. The flyer indicates 15,200 square feet are available for lease on each of two floors.
The live music venue’s West Fourth Street site has previously been identified by the Downtown Commission and Downtown Austin Plan consultants as one likely to be redeveloped due to its location, size and lack of Capitol View Corridor restrictions.
La Zona Rosa’s website currently lists several concerts scheduled for November and December, as well as one in February.
