Weekend picks: Chameleonsvox, Grupo Fantasma, The Knux and more

Chameleonsvox

FRIDAY

Chameleonsvox at Elysium. The U.S. has never been good at being really into more than a handful of British guitar bands at any one time and in the mid-’80s, those jobs were filled by the Cure and Echo and the Bunnymen. Hitmakers, more or less, across the pond, Chameleons were a cult act here, but the cult is passionate and their first three albums are well worth investigating. For this tour, original Chameleons singer/songwriter/bassist Mark Burgess and “classic lineup” drummer John Lever and a full band play a classic Chameleons set. With Rescue Mission. 9 p.m. $10 advance, $15 door. 705 Red River St. www.elysiumonline.net. - Joe Gross
