Beerland holds benefit for Waxeater bassist Elliot Turton
Beerland is throwing a benefit Saturday afternoon for Elliot Turton, the bass player who was given an electric shock sever enough to stop his heart and put him in Brackenridge Hospital on June 26.
Wiccans, Air Traffic Controllers and Breatherholes, a new band featuring former members of Wild America, have all signed on. Beerland booker Max Dropout is hoping to announce more bands in the coming days. Doors at 2, bands at 3. The cover is to be determined. Paypal donations sent to TurtonBenefit@gmail.com will be forwarded to Turton’s family.
“All proceeds going to Elliot’s medical expenses,” Dropout said. “I want to help in whatever way that I can, and I think a lot of other people do, too. I think this event is sort of indicative of Austin’s communal and caring spirit.”
According to a post from Turton’s father, Kelly Turton, on Waxeater’s Facebook page, Turton is awake and responsive after two days under sedation.
