Willie’s Picnic: Not sold out

The folks at Billy Bob’s in the Fort Worth Stockyards are probably wondering about now whether hosting Willie Nelson’s not-quite-annual Fourth of July Picnic — this year merged with Willie’s Country Throwdown tour — is worth the hassle.

With less than a week to go, they still don’t have an official lineup. You can bet on headliners Willie and Jamey Johnson, but the real question is which Picnic old-timers will join them. David Allan Coe, Ray Price and Johnny Bush seem to be in. Ray Wylie Hubbard has joined them. Pollstar.com suggests Asleep at the Wheel will be there. But Leon Russell seems to be out.

Perhaps not coincidentally (and contrary to claims elsewhere), the concert — Billy Bob’s had emphasized that ticket sales would be limited — has not sold out. If in Willie you trust (and you really like seeing his children perform), you can still get a ticket.
