Beerland given all clear by master electrician

Randall Stockton said today that a master electrician examined Beerland’s wiring Monday night and pronounced it safe a day after Elliott Turton, bassist for the Indiana band Waxeater, received a severe electric shock while performing at the Red River club.

Turton remains under sedation at Brackenridge Hospital. Well wishes have been posted on the Waxeater Facebook page.

The club will reopen tonight with performances from Love Collector, Black Gum and virtual Beerland house band Dikes of Holland.

“He spent a couple of hours checking the the breakers, the grounds, the wiring, everything,” Stockton said. “He said that it was safe to have people back in and play. We will be getting appropriate documentation sometime today.”

Booker Max Dropout posted the following on Facebook: “We are sensitive to any concerns regarding safety, so any musician booked to play our club with questions or concerns regarding the matter, please contact myself or Randall. While there may be changes to tonight’s lineup, we will be open and present.”

“It’s a little bit of peace of mind that the club is safe, but we still have a kid that got hurt and that’s terrible,” Stockton said.
