Sarah Jarosz, Hayes Carll, Gurf Morlix up for AMA awards
Singer-songwriter Hayes Carll leads the pack of Central Texas-based artists nominated for Americana Music Association awards, which were announced today in New York. Carll, who released “KMAG YOYO” in February, earned nominations in both song of the year and artist of the year categories. Gurf Morlix and Wimberley native Sarah Jarosz both received nominations for instrumentalist of the year. Robert Plant’s Band of Joy, which includes Austin-based musician Patty Griffin, was nominated for album of the year, artist of the year and duo/group of the year.
Other nominees include the Decemberists, Justin Townes Earle, the Avett Brothers and the Civil Wars. The awards will take place on October 13 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. For more information visit the Americana Music Association website.
