Gawd, y’all’s shameless whoring for C3 has reached nauseating heights now…L.A. Lloyd: “Is ACL America’s PREMIERE live music event that everyone should attend?” Nice journalism, guys. You are merely a PR arm of C3. Enjoy your VIP passes and free food and booze (especially Corcoran), and nevermind those pesky critical faculties you used to use….

Anyone who is not ecstatic that Stevie Wonder is playing:
1) has no soul 2) doesn’t like funk 3) is an idiot 4) all or any combination of the above
As for the rest of the lineup…meh. My Morning Jacket are decent, but they haven’t done anything in a while to move beyond being a buzz band circa 2006/7. A few others…Social D…classic punk/rockabilly. Death From Above 1979…good “get”. The Walkmen…promising.
In any event, the headliners besides Stevie are embarrassing. Arcade Fire = quickly playing their bland-sounding selves out. Coldplay = always reliable for some kick-*** elevator music.
Where is Neil Young? Where are Radiohead, Soundgarden, the Flaming Lips (give them a headlining spot already!), or even RHCP or Weezer? If it was going to be that difficult to inject some energy into this thing, bring back Pearl Jam again (yes, already). Is there a limit on the number of electric guitars allowed in the park this year?
If ACL was indeed intent on taking the festival back towards “roots rock” for the 10th anniversary (as many speculated), they could have at tried for Willie or Tom Petty…or NEIL YOUNG!
Oh well…I guess I should at least be happy that Blues Traveler and G. Love aren’t invited for the millionth time.
