SXSW review: Snowdroppers at Velveeta Room

From Sydney, Australia, this band might strike you as a little Stray Cats and a Little Squirl Nut Zippers, but definitely more punk rock. Starting with “Ain’t No Grave Gonna Hold My Body Down” was certainly a bold statement of purpose. And the outta tune banjo actually helped.

It does seem they’re on to something, although somebody really needs to tell their persuasive and charismatic frontman that Guy Forsyth, or maybe it was Warren Beatty, or maybe it was Edward G. Robinson, thought of the whole undershirt and suspenders get-up. If you like fast, intense, postmodern rockabilly go for it.
