Motorhead with Clutch March 8 at Stubb’s
Well, this is quite a gig.
Motorhead, of course, are famous for blurring the line between hard rock, punk and metal, virtually inventing a new sound as they did it. “Lemmy,” a documentary about Motorhead’s legendary frontman that screened at SXSW last year, opens on Friday. The band released a new album, “The World is Yours,” last year. It sounded a whole lot like the others, but nobody minded.
Clutch have been masters of the push-pull that signifies heavy for more than 20 years. No less a drummer than Dave Witte, regarded my many in the punk and metal community as one of the best drummers around, recently called Clutch drummer Jean-Paul Gaster the heir to John Bonham. Clutch is re-releasing their 1994’s album “Blast Tyrant” on their own Weathermaker Music in the spring and will release a new album later this year.
Doors at 7 p.m., show at 8 p.m. Tickets are $27.50 advance and $30 day of show, but we all know this will sell out.
