Paul Saucido arrested on sexual assault charges
Paul Saucido, a local media personality who hosts the “Sonido Boombox” show on ME TV, has been arrested on charges of sexual assault in connection with an incident at a party Sept. 23.
He is being held in the Travis County Jail this morning on $80,000 bail, records show.
Saucido is an actor and comedian whose Latino Slant Web site features profiles on local, national and international Latin musicians.
According to an arrest affidavit, a woman who had been at a birthday party for Saucido told police she passed out in a bathroom and awoke to find Saucido assaulting her. Another woman told police that she saw Saucido in the bathroom with the victim, the document said.
Later that morning, a friend of the victim who had helped her back to her apartment said he saw Saucido again assaulting her on her sofa, the affidavit said.
He has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, a second-degree felony, records show.
“Everyone here is shocked to hear about this,” Kevin Connor, vice president for music programming for ME TV said Wednesday. “Obviously, we can’t comment about something we didn’t know anything about.”
Connor said Saucido was scheduled to meet with with the local music video company to discuss the future of his weekly program. Saucido had been providing “Sonido Boombox” to the station on a freelance basis. He had recently lost an independent sponsor for the program, Connor said.
