Blue October Stubb’s dates back on

On Friday, it was announced that Blue October’s “Pick Up the Phone” tour, which hoped to bring awareness to suicide prevention resources, was canceled a few days before the start because singer Justin Furstenfeld had been hospitalized after suffering a massive anxiety attack.

The tour is still off, but the two Austin dates- Nov. 20 & 21 at Stubb’s will go on. “Justin’s doing great and will be out of the hospital in a week or so,” said the band’s manager Paul Nugent. “Since the Stubb’s dates are near home, we’re able to do them as planned.” Nugent said Furstenfeld “is deeply disappointed that the tour has been canceled. He can’t wait to be onstage every night.”

Blue October is based in San Marcos. The band gets its name from when Furstenfeld spent the month of October, several years ago, in a mental health facility.

A Blue October fan from Flint, MI here. Greetings Austin! I had tickets for the Royal Oak, MI show in November and am disappointed the show was cancelled, but understand Justin’s struggle and wish him well. Thank you, Austin, for sharing such a talent with us all. With him being a hometowner, I hope you know what you have in Justin and Blue October. His music goes beyond the stage and into many hearts who struggle as he does, as we all do in a way. Get your back ends out to Stubb’s and give Justin the love we wish we all could around the Country! He needs to know we are still out here. Enjoy!

I’m so glad to hear that Justin is doing well and excited to be back onstage! I can’t afford to go to TX and I hope the band eventually makes it back to the northeast (PA if possible) so that I can finally get to see their show. Good luck to you all!!
