ACL Festival is sold out

All single day, three-day and VIP passes to ACL Fest Oct. 2- 4 are completely sold out, according to the fest’s official Web site. This is the earliest sellout in the fest’s eight years.

The recent Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, also promoted by Austin-based C3 Presents, also sold out this year, with 75,000 fans each day. ACL Fest has a limit of 65,000 attendance each day.

Thanks to commenter DJC for the tip.

Hey C-Frog- No word on Beastie Boys replacement, but since the fest’s already sold out, I wouldn’t expect C3 to spend any money. The Beastie Boys probably cost about half a million dollars C3 doesn’t have to pay now. Bonus!

Hopefully C3 is working on a thursday night stubbs show. otherwise a waste of a good opportunity to sell out.
Beasties replacement? After thoughtful analysis and discussions with friends, my best guess is Flaming Lips or Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Flaming Lips because they are open that weekend and will be touring for new album. Also, they are close. Yeah Yeah Yeahs because they are also open and C3 booked them for Lolla.

Do we get to use our park after this ACL? C3 needs to get their own venue and give us our bought and paid for with tax dollars park back.

Move ACLfest out of Zilker Park NOW!! There are many good reasons to move it to the Travis ExpoCenter.

It gets worse every year.

I have come to the conclusion that a bunch of losers trolling the Statesmen blogs, to post comments, have not and will not ever attend ACL.

Hello, Please do some research and you will find that C3 paid for a significant portion (if not all) of the new zilker lawn. they care about austin and the park! and i have been to every year of ACL and it rocks. thank you.

It’s no surprise it sold out so quickly, but not because of the fans. The tickets are all over the secondary (scalper) market, for 4-5 times the face value.

How could Austin let acl ruin and steal the zilker park from thousands of kids and locals? They ruin the grass by over using it .70,000 people 3 days in a row. Then claim to be making the fields better. After killing every blade of grass Acl should be ashamed. Stealing from kids for their own gain. I think that i know who the losers are. Our kids… Give Austin’s kids their park back. Shame on asl.

Well Stan, only LA trumps Austin with highest douchebag percentage in America. Zilker Park won’t suck for 3 days out of the year, but know this; I will have to be stumbling drunk to enjoy that abysmal Austin food scene! Bassnectar will bring that SF culture that Austin so pathetically fails in attemtping.

Please, anybody complaining move away now. So what if every band isn’t your favorite, it’s still really fun. And for one weekend why don’t you take your kids to one of the other hundred parks in Austin. Instead of complaining about every unsubstantiated idea that comes into your closed mind, why don’t you just try and have a good time. People that ***** about all the festivals in Austin muust have just moved here. Move back where you came from, we’re having a good time!
