The ACL grid is here!

Here you go.

Some initial thoughts:

  • School of Seven Bells at the Barton Springs stage at 12:30 p.m. Friday could be a big hipster draw. But I can also see them playing an aftershow at, say, Mohawk or Emo’s.

  • What’s the over-under on Lily Allen actually showing up?

  • Weird hole on Friday at the Lady Bird Lake stage between the Walkmen and Lily Allen? Something biggish that is not yet confirmed, probably.

  • Can’t really see the Knux and Blitzen Trapper drawing the same crowd. The rest of the weekend seems pretty well balanced. (Ghostland Observatory vs. Dave Matthews Band, Trail of Dead vs. Bon Iver, B-52s vs. Clutch)

  • Sunday is my jam. Clutch, Arctic Monkeys (whom I might as well give another chance), the Dead Weather (a.k.a. late-period Royal Trux for the Twitter generation), Sonic Youth and headliners Pearl Jam, who will probably play as long as humanly possible.

So what do you think?

Did a monkey plan the saturday schedule? So many conflicts…what a waste. 2009. The year that ACL died.

Didn’t it used to be that the two main stages were offset in time by at least a little bit. That way you could sometimes catch parts of both shows… looks like this year they always start at the same time?

Has anyone heard if KOL will be playing an after show?

Aftershows?

Wish they would announce those already, some people actually come from out of town. In these economic times it would be ideal to release those so tourists can set there plans. (Just my opinion, someone may have an answer why they wait longer each year?)

No Beastie Boys/Kings of Leon conflict anymore.

Seeing the grid confirmed that I made the right choice in not buying tickets in advance. This year’s lineup is not for me, even morese than last year’s. I’m sure I’ll go to a couple of aftershows (Trail of Dead, hopefully?), but there’s nothing during the day that is attractive at all.

If they can’t get someone better than KOL, just move Ghostland to the Beastie’s spot on Friday. There’s no way they should be playing opposite of DMB.
