Your ignoring the Gourds, for many years now at this event … and for so many years before inviting them to do the TV show … is really reprehensible.

Well, let me put it this way. There are only two artists that I would care to pay and put up with the madness of this festival (madness in many ways). That statement does not mean there aren’t quality acts that I would want to see at another venue, just that there are only two that are worth the price of admission and hassle for me. Chances are they will be on separate days. This is typical since I’ve been in Austin and the reason that I have only been once in many years. The only band I am really anxious to see play is Dave Matthews Band and Ben Harper. I’m not sure it is worth it, I can fly out to a better festival. Plus, the acts will probably even show up at other festivals. LOL

Great lineup, but where is Robert Earl Keen?

Yay. We’re officially down to 2 bands that would ever, ever go on ACL. I guess it’s more important to have ‘fun’ music to get high to than actual ‘good’ music. Great. Officially no ‘grandpa’ acts for your hipsters to get mad about.

…and there is no line at the beer tent, but 5 cups of each flavor of Miller is full and waiting for the elusive crowd that will inevitably rush the tent and demand an instant beer. But they don’t, and the beers sit there in the hot texas autumn. Please NO WARM BEER THIS YEAR!!! Don’t pour them until someone wants to buy them.

Frankly, this lineup is weaker than ever, so this will be the FIRST year I don’t go since the beginning, which makes me sad. Only four bands I’m remotely interested in hearing. Seems to cater to the 25-39 demo. Guess us over 40s (I’m 43) are SOL this year. Ah well…enjoy.

Best ACL line up to date! Tickets will sell out fast for this one!

Wow. Weak - really weak. I am completely underwhelmed. Ben Harper and Dave Matthews are NOT impressive live - especially outdoors with competing stages nearby. The Beastie Boys are not relevant today beyond a VH1 “where are they now” show. Will likely sell my tix. What a huge disappointment. And I thought ACL Fest was gaining momentum and notoriety…..wrong!

ACL lineup is worse every year. I only went one day last year. Looks like the same for this year.

I am 49 and like most lists I will need to do my homework. It’s great to see Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews, B-52’s, Artic Monkeys, Raveonettes and Flogging Molly but it seems the firepower to sell tickets ends after Matthews. Sure there will be a Beastie Boys interest but not enough for headlining and spur sales. I was hoping to see Porcupine Tree and Zappa Plays Zappa. Later.

i think its a great line-up. the headliners are so-so, but big-time, cutting-edge headliners are like dominant big-men in the NBA, you really want one, maybe need one, but there are really only 2-3 in the entire league. sometimes you gotta have a Eric Dmapier with some awesome perimiter players to be successful…
for all the haters - why is the line-up weak? what artists are not on there that you wish were? compare lineups between the big 3-4 fests out there, there isnt that much difference…

Yes!! We can wait to see the Beastie Boys. This is our second year going and there is nothing better than chilling out and listening to music. For those complaining, you must not be real music enthusiasts. Our beer was always cold- no complaints for us, last year was awesome and this year looks to be as well :)

I keep my ear to the ground and try to keep an open mind for new music, but when I haven’t even heard of (i mean at all) over half the roster, then it is a weak lineup. I’m only 34. This SHOULD be right up my alley. We went to Coachella 2 weeks ago and that lineup was definitely better. Lolla has much better headliners. and Bonnaroo kills this lineup as well. The only thing they have going for them is the fact our city is awesome and supports just about any type of live music(good or bad). So, somebody will be there to listen to this.

This is a great line up. Somebody said there were no great musicians just ‘fun’ music…and that Ben Harper and the DMB are not good live? Wow, you are certainly entitled to your opinion but I could not disagree more. This is some of the most diverse and deep lineups I have ever seen (been to them all). Well done…

Weak lineup. The headliners are extremely lacking and the midtier is for the most part dull. Of course Lolla gets the killer lineup again.

To the Guy who said were are they now..Bite me.. Mos Def.. Who is extremely Talented. . and Grizzley Bear is a great band out of NY. The Dead would have been a nice addition .. but we are getting a ton of bands we never see in this area PJ and DMB.. Wake up .. This line up Kick A$$..

best line-up ever! I’m not sure why people think otherwise…maybe because they are n00bs that do not actually know the artists and complain about the line-up because of it.

Sure, Steve, sure. Maybe that’s the problem.
I too have gone to ACL every year(except the first). And yes, they will have a diverse lineup usually with maybe 25% of lineup that are relatively unknown. This year’s lineup is about 50% unknown to me. But then again, my tastes have changed and I don’t listen to DMB and other adult contemporary smooth jazz like I used to.

The ACL spin doctors are gonna be working overtime to convince us this bunch of has-beens and hipsters are worth 185 bucks. Good luck!

I’m 40….I don’t even want to see Pearl Jam (reminds me I am getting old..lol). This festival lineup is pretty weak. I’m into music and very eccentric (play alot myself), but I just do not see enough to entice me here. Just my 2 cents, I hope many will enjoy it.

Very weak line up. Must only be twenty-somethings responding to the who’s hot at ACL poll. Compare to either weekend at Jazz Fest. You can’t. Why can’t one of the stages focus on acts that are outside the 35 and under market? We used to get Lyle Lovett, John Prine, Steve Earle and the like. How about the Cajun/Zydeco acts for the tent stage? Rodrigo y Gabriela canceled two years ago and are doing festivals. Its like C3 has tunnel vision this year, and really for the past couple of years. That’s what makes the festival weak.

I agree with K9. I enjoyed John Prine, Steve Earle, Guy Clark, Lucinda, Willie - Ryan Bingham - I am going to try and sell my tickets - I can’t justify the $185 ticket. We might be older, but we still enjoyed the music. Very Disappointed.

This is a nice line up for the most part, however, there is virtually no straight out reggae. I am a reggae radio dj for KAZI and have hosted the Conscious Party for 18 years. I know from this and the turn out at the Austin Reggae Fest, there IS a market. Also, it is time to introduce some of the incredible new stars in reggae and they aren’t just from Jamaica. Many are from other parts of the Caribbean. Please, don’t turn your back on the Caribbean and African community in Austin.

You know, if you dont want to go, then don’t, less people to fight to see bands we like. As for DMB, you should see them live. it will be my 25th DMB show, they are awesome live, same with the Arvett Brothers, I can’t wait. I think the headliners are good, but there is some lack with the no name bands but thats why they come to Austin, to play, & get their music out there. I love music, wish i could share the stage with DMB! see you in October And October 2 is my partners and I’s 8th year anniversary, what better way to spend it, with our friends and music!!! Peace, love DMb and music!!!!!!

Avett Brothers, MM&W, Mos Def, Andrew Bird. Freakin’ nice. Wish I still lived in ol’ ATX. I suggest anyone who’s doubting the fest to make sure you see the Avett Brothers. The sleeper act of the decade.
