ACL Fest sells out first tier of tickets

The $160 advance sale tickets for ACL Fest sold out today is just about four hours. The price is now at $185 for three-day passes to the Oct 2- 4 event.

Charles Attal of C3 Presents said that the price will not go any higher than $185, which includes all service charges. Attal declined say how many tickets went on sale for $160.

Man, C3 keeps raising the price and selling fewer and fewer tickets at reduced “advanced” ticket price levels. On top of all that, it seems like the festival gets increasingly crowded every year with more and more people crammed in (there were times last year when the crowds prevented me from even getting close enough to a couple of the stages to hear the music without having it drowned out by acts on neighboring stages). Anyway, if C3 doesn’t make it a priority to keep the festival affordable and comfortable, there’s eventually going to be a backlash. (despite my criticisms, however, I’d like to congratulate them for moving the festival to October this year. They made a lot of people very happy with that move.)

Ninja is correct. I’ve gone to every ACL festival and have seen some amazing acts (Weary Boys, Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon), but the afternoons are too hot, crowded and dusty and the return on investment has diminished each year. I’d like to see a return to musical diversity, affordability and comfort as well. Also, better stage names (Stevie Ray stage, Grey Ghost stage, Sahm stage…).

only reason they moved it was beacause of the 2 ut home games on the 19th, and 26th. Agreed, they need to reduce the #s. Seeing a headliner is a total joke. Seat zones were a big improvement, but must be pushed even further back.

I think C3 presents deserved credit for balancing their profit-minded interests with community involvement. The $2.5 million Zilker park renovation is being funded through C3…

festivals such as this are inherently expensive. If you want “affordability” - there are plenty of options. Some of us are willing to pay a little extra to see the big acts.

ACL was only moved to October because the Longhorns are out of town then. I’m surprised prices didn’t go up even more to cover the new irrigation. Hopefully higher ticket prices = better conditions & bands!!

I missed the opportunity for the cheaper tix. Got the e-mail from ACL at 10:50 this morning but by the time I read the message it was too late. No problem, it will still be worth the extra $15.

Can’t the City of Austin just make c3 move the ACL festival out to east Austin? We don’t like it here anymore. It is tired and old.

Yo, loving people of Austin! What happened to the Aqua Fest? Has it dissappeared altogether? That would be insane: How much revenue was generated by visitors to Austin just for the Aqua Fest?
