Ely, Escovedo jam with the Boss
Bruce Springsteen’s Houston concert Monday had an Austin flavor at the end when Alejandro Escovedo and then Joe Ely performed with the E-Street Band during the encores.
Ely is a regular at Springsteen shows, but this is the first time Escovedo has jammed with the Boss. It makes perfect sense, however, because Escovedo is now managed by Jon Landau and Barbara Carr who have handled Springsteen since “Born To Run.” Now that they’re, basically, in the same family, Springsteen needs to learn how to pronounce “Escovedo.”
The song the Boss performed with the Assistant Night Manager is “Always a Friend” from the upcoming Escovedo rock album “Real Animal.” Escovedo’s at the Back To Earth Lounge (aka Continental Club) tonight at 10 p.m.
