It’s official: Doug Sahm Hill
Minutes ago, the City Council approved the naming of the highest point of the new park near Lady Bird Lake. It’s Doug Sahm Hill, named after the musician who best embodied Austin’s passion for real Texas music.
The tireless Shawn Sahm is putting together a concert to raise money for a statue or marker at the top of the hill. There’s also a tribute album coming in 2009, the 10th anniversary of Doug Sahm’s death.

Great to know the city of Austin is doing something to remember Doug Sahm. Btw, ran into his son, Shandon, in Amsterdam while on holidays in November of 2008
