Cool gig alert: Tito Carrillo

Chicago trumpet player Tito Carrillo returns to his home town of Austin Wednesday to play a free show at the Elephant Room (315 Congress Ave.) backed by some of Austin’s top players, including the fabulous J.J. Johnson on drums.

After graduating from Cockett High in South Austin, Carrillo went to college at UNLV, before playing in Phil Collins’ band on a couple world tours.

The Elephant Room set starts at 9:30 p.m.

Tito has done well in his career. As a young student he was so focused on his music. It was a thrill to go to the Woodlands and see him play with Phil Collins. I am so proud of him. I invite all to come see him you will be in for a treat.
